According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “nearly a quarter of men reported some form of contact sexual violence in their lifetime. “There is a hidden epidemic of sexual violence within the queer community that is rarely visible in the media. A man some viewers mistakenly identified as the older television writer in “Baby Reindeer” has gone to the police after receiving threatening messages on social media. Whatever the legacy of “Baby Reindeer” may be, it stands as one of the boldest and most forthright explorations of male victims of stalking and sexual assault.

The unsubstantiated, misleading misogyny of former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly’s tirade about the harm plastic surgery does to women. Throughout her segment on Moriarty, Kelly latched onto what might, in other hands, under other circumstances, have been sympathetic and important themes. She flagged mental health, the pressures put on women by social media and the beauty industry and the struggle to remain authentic in an increasingly “fake,” AI-dominated world. Moriarty said she would be taking “an extensive if not permanent break” from social media and in her words, she experienced “one of the most challenging weeks” of her life. So much for Kelly’s concerns about her mental health.

CNN —Taylor Swift broke sports media when she showed up to the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday, seated next to tight end Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna. The outing capped a frenzied period of speculation in which the rumor mill had been working overtime to speculate whether Swift and Kelce were, in fact, an item. Swift has been incredibly vocal about how much she dislikes when people speculate about her dating life. “I feel like watching my dating life has become a bit of a national pastime,” she told Rolling Stone in 2014. “Taylor is very focused on work right now and hanging out with her girlfriends,” a source told People magazine.

CNN —Arguably the least interesting thing about Leonard Bernstein — the legendary conductor and composer now being played by Bradley Cooper in an upcoming Netflix biopic called “Maestro”— was his nose. However, any non-Jewish person putting on a fake nose in order to portray a Jew is colliding with a grim history. I think we can and must discern between Cooper’s nose prosthesis and, for example, the virulent antisemitism embedded in the works of beloved children’s author Roald Dahl. I don’t want to watch “Maestro.” I don’t really care whether you do, so long as you respect my feelings. You cannot have a non-Jewish actor putting on a fake nose in order to play a Jew and not at least pause for a moment to consider the history.
